Metropolis Movie Review

I felt that the movie never ended and had too many high points i.e: the breaking down of the machine, the flooding of the city, and the making of the Machine (Wo)man; the movie also seemed very long winded, dragging on scenes that would’ve still done well if they were shortened (which is why the movie was cut down in the first place).

Though long I do have to say there were some key aspects of this movie that kept my attention.  The acting for the most part which, not like your typical 20th century movie, made it as if you were viewing a play; but with that came great scenes like the allegorical religious symbolism through out the film, the trippy scene that occurs after Death arrives, the fight between Freder and hypnotized crowd, my favorite scene being the overly dramatic dancing done by the cloned Maria.

I also loved the Futurism-styled architect presented this (and many other) film, rom the mad scientist styled laboratory to the dystopian themed underworld and surrealistic landscape of the Sons Club utopia.
